Etape Tips

1. Train and train some more
2. If you have family get their support
3. Test and test early.  Don’t buy new sparkly kit the week before
4. Make sure you have got your food strategy tested and know what products work for you.  You don’t want to be sick half way around the route because your body doesn’t like your new gels.
5. Train smart.  Using a heart rate monitor or a power meter can really help your training….but they will only work if you understand how to use them!
6. Pace your self correctly in the event.  No matter how tempting it is don’t stay with a really fast group that is too good for you.  It will probably come back to haunt you on the final climb.
7. Know the route.  Know where hills and feed stops are
8. If you can make the trip part of a family holiday it is far more relaxing
9. Enjoy it, that’s why you entered
10. Do some more training
